Corrections
[DRAFT: first-draft copy awaiting the owner's sign-off. Not final.]
We correct mistakes openly. When a story gets a fact wrong, we fix it and say what we changed and when.
How corrections work
- We check the report against the story's sources and, where needed, the original record.
- If the story is wrong, we prepare a corrected version. A named approver reviews it before it goes live, as with any story.
- The corrected story carries a dated note that says what was wrong and what it now says. The note is not removed later.
- The correction is also listed below, with its date and a link to the story.
- If the mistake changes what the story means, we change the headline and description too, with the same review.
Fixes that don't change meaning, such as a spelling error or a broken link, may be made without a correction note.
How to ask for a correction
Email corrections@automotor.news with the link to the story, what you think is wrong and, if you can, a source that shows the right information. If you are named in a story and think we have described the record wrongly, please tell us which record and what it says.
We use AI tools to help sort and answer email; replies say so. A person reviews every correction before it is published.
